Terms of Business

Rebecca Reid Singing Studio

Last updated: 21 April 2026

1. Agreement to Terms

1.1 These Terms apply to all lessons and subscriptions provided by Rebecca Reid Singing Studio (the “Teacher”).

1.2 By booking a lesson or purchasing a subscription through Acuity Scheduling (the “Booking System”), the student, or where applicable the parent/guardian acting on their behalf, agrees to be bound by these Terms.

1.3 These Terms continue until lessons or subscriptions are discontinued in accordance with these Terms (see Termination of Lessons below).

1.4 Continued use of the services constitutes acceptance of these Terms.

2. Eligibility

2.1 Lessons and subscription plans are available to students aged 16 years and over.

2.2 Students aged 18 and over may book lessons and purchase subscriptions, and enter into these Terms in their own name.

2.3 For students under 18, all lesson bookings, subscription purchases, and these Terms must be made by the parent/guardian on the student’s behalf. The parent/guardian will be the contracting party and is responsible for all payments and compliance with these Terms.

2.4 By making a booking or purchasing a subscription on behalf of a student under 18, the parent/guardian confirms that they have the authority to enter into these Terms.

2.5 By booking lessons or purchasing a subscription, the student or parent/guardian confirms that all information provided, including the student’s age, is accurate. The Teacher reserves the right to request proof of age and to suspend or terminate services if false or misleading information is provided.

3. Booking & Payment

3.1 All lessons must be booked online through the Booking System. Lessons cannot be booked manually or outside the Booking System.

3.2 Payment is required in full at the time of booking and is processed securely via Stripe or through an active subscription. A booking is only confirmed once payment has been successfully processed.

3.3 Rebecca Reid Singing Studio is not VAT registered. All prices are therefore not subject to VAT.

3.4 Lessons may be booked between 24 hours and 90 days in advance, subject to availability. Students are encouraged to book in advance to secure their preferred day/time.

3.5 All lesson times are scheduled in the local time zone of the Teacher (Northern Ireland), unless otherwise stated. Students are responsible for ensuring they attend lessons at the correct time based on their own time zone.

4. Lesson Delivery

4.1 Students are responsible for attending lessons at the scheduled time as confirmed through the Booking System.

4.2 Lessons are delivered either in person or online, as selected at the time of booking. Lessons will take place within the scheduled time slot and will begin and end at the agreed time.

4.3 Students are asked to notify the Teacher as soon as possible if they are running late, where it is safe to do so. For time-sensitive updates, students should use a text message or WhatsApp message, as emails may not be seen in time.

4.4 If a student arrives late, the lesson will still end at the scheduled time and will not be extended.

4.5 If a student is more than 15 minutes late and has not provided prior notification, the lesson may be treated as a “no-show” and will be forfeited, in line with the Rescheduling policy.

4.6 Students or their parent/guardian confirm that they will inform the Teacher if they are currently working with another singing teacher or vocal coach. Where applicable, any concurrent training should be discussed and agreed in advance to ensure consistency of approach and to support the student’s vocal development.

5. Reschedules

5.1 Lessons may be rescheduled by submitting a request at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson time. Reschedule requests must be submitted via the designated reschedule request form. Rescheduling is not available through the Booking System, and requests submitted by email or other methods will not be accepted.

5.2 Each lesson may be rescheduled once only, and the new lesson must take place within 14 days of the original date, subject to availability.

5.3 Requests made with less than 24 hours’ notice will not be accepted. In such cases, the lesson will be forfeited and is not eligible for rescheduling or refund, regardless of the reason for cancellation.

5.4 Failure to attend a scheduled lesson without prior notice (a “no-show”) will also result in the lesson being forfeited, with no reschedule or refund offered.

5.5 These terms are intended to comply with UK consumer law for services booked for a specific date and time, where cancellation and rescheduling rights are limited once the booking is confirmed.

5.6 Rescheduling and cancellation are separate processes. Cancellations must be made via the Booking System in accordance with clause 6, while reschedule requests must be submitted via the designated reschedule request form.

6. Cancellations & Refunds

6.1 Lessons cancelled with more than 24 hours’ notice will receive a full refund, processed via Stripe once approved. Refunds may take 7–10 days to appear in the student’s account. This applies to flexible (pay-as-you-go) lessons. Subscription lessons are subject to the terms set out in Clause 7.

6.2 Refunds will only be issued in accordance with these Terms.

6.3 Cancellations must be made via the Booking System. The reschedule request form cannot be used to cancel lessons. Cancellation requests submitted via email or other methods will not be accepted unless confirmed through the Booking System.

6.4 Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice cannot be rescheduled or refunded.

6.5 If a student does not attend a scheduled lesson, the lesson is forfeited and cannot be rescheduled or refunded.

7. Subscription Lessons

7.1 Subscription lesson plans provide a set number of lessons per billing cycle. The available plans are as follows:

7.1.1. Weekly Subscription: 4 x 60-minute lessons per billing period, billed monthly

7.1.2. Monthly Subscription: 1 x 60-minute lesson per billing period, billed monthly

7.2 Subscriptions are offered on a monthly billing cycle and will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. The billing period runs from the date of initial purchase and renews automatically on the same date each month.

7.3 Students are responsible for managing their subscription, including their personal information, scheduling and rescheduling lessons, tracking lesson usage, and cancelling where required.

7.4 Lessons are intended to be scheduled within 30 days of the subscription purchase or renewal date.

7.5 Subscription lessons do not roll over to future billing cycles. Unused lessons will expire upon renewal unless already scheduled within the permitted usage period.

7.6 If a subscription payment fails, access to booking may be suspended until payment has been successfully processed. Lesson slots will be held for up to 7 days from the date of notification. If payment is not updated within this time, the lesson slot may be released and offered to another student. The Teacher reserves the right to cancel or suspend any scheduled lessons, including those booked in advance, until the payment issue is resolved.

7.7 Subscriptions may be cancelled at any time via the Booking System. Cancellation will only be effective once processed through the Booking System and will stop future billing. In accordance with the 14-day cooling-off period set out in clause 7.10, cancellations made after this period are non-refundable. Subscription payments are otherwise non-refundable, and prorated refunds do not apply.

7.8 Following cancellation, any remaining lessons must be booked and taken within the current billing period. Lessons scheduled outside of the current billing period will not be valid and must be rescheduled within the billing period, subject to availability. Any lessons not used within this period will expire and are non-refundable.

7.9 A reminder of the upcoming subscription renewal will be issued by email to the address provided at the point of sign-up at least 7 days in advance of the next billing date.

7.10 In accordance with the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, new students have a 14-day cooling-off period from the date of purchase. During this time, lessons may be cancelled for a full refund, provided no lesson has yet taken place.

By booking a lesson within the 14-day cooling-off period, the student expressly requests that the service begins within this period and acknowledges that, once the lesson has been fully delivered, the right to cancel is lost.

7.11 Prior to purchasing a subscription, the student will be provided with clear information regarding pricing, billing frequency, automatic renewal, and cancellation terms via the website and Booking System.

8. Teacher Cancellation

8.1 If the teacher needs to cancel or reschedule a lesson, students will be notified as soon as reasonably possible.

8.2 In most cases, more than 24 hours’ notice will be given, although this cannot be guaranteed in cases of illness or unforeseen circumstances.

8.3 The lesson will be rescheduled or refunded.

9. Technical Issues (Online Lessons)

9.1 Students are responsible for ensuring they have a stable internet connection and suitable equipment.

9.2 Students should report any technical issues as soon as possible during the lesson so that reasonable efforts can be made to resolve them.

9.3 If a lesson cannot take place or is significantly disrupted due to a technical issue on the student’s side, it will be treated as a missed lesson and cannot be rescheduled or refunded.

9.4 If a lesson cannot take place due to a technical issue on the teacher’s side, the lesson will be rescheduled or refunded.

10. Space and Equipment

10.1 The Teacher is not responsible for the provision or loan of any equipment or materials (including instruments or sheet music) unless agreed in advance.

10.2 Materials provided by the teacher, including digital resources, remain the intellectual property of Rebecca Reid Singing Studio and must not be reproduced or distributed without permission.

10.3 The Teacher is not liable for any technical faults, failures, or damage to equipment used by the student for the purposes of receiving lessons and will not be required to make up lost teaching time caused by such issues.

10.4 Students are responsible for the care, maintenance, and insurance of their own equipment and instruments.

11. Communication & Professional Boundaries

11.1 All lesson-related communication should take place directly between the Teacher and the student, or where applicable their parent/guardian.

11.2 Communication will primarily take place via email unless otherwise agreed.

11.3 Lessons must not be recorded, photographed, or shared without prior agreement. Any agreed recordings must not be distributed, published, or uploaded to social media without explicit permission.

11.4 Any inappropriate, offensive, or abusive behaviour, including online conduct, may result in immediate termination of lessons or subscriptions without refund. What constitutes such behaviour will be determined at the reasonable discretion of the Teacher.

11.5 The Teacher may, at their reasonable discretion, refuse or discontinue services, including in cases of inappropriate, unsafe, or unprofessional behaviour.

12. Termination of Lessons

12.1 The student may terminate these Terms at any time by:

12.1.1. ceasing to book further lessons; or

12.1.2. cancelling their subscription in accordance with clause 7.

12.2 The Teacher reserves the right to terminate these Terms at any time with immediate effect in the following circumstances:
12.2.1. failure to make payment;
12.2.2. repeated missed lessons without appropriate notice;
12.2.3. inappropriate, abusive, or disruptive behaviour;
12.2.4 any other circumstance where it is no longer reasonable to continue the professional relationship.

12.3 The Teacher may also terminate these Terms for any other reason by providing not less than 14 days’ written notice.

12.4 Upon termination, any lessons already booked will remain subject to the applicable cancellation and rescheduling terms set out in these Terms.

Where the student has an active subscription, any remaining lessons must be booked and taken within the current billing period in accordance with clause 7. Lessons scheduled outside of the current billing period will not be valid and must be rescheduled within that period, subject to availability. Any lessons not used within this period will expire and are non-refundable.

12.5 Following termination, access to the Booking System may be withdrawn and no further lessons may be booked.

13. General Terms

13.1 Data Protection
Personal data is collected and processed for the purpose of delivering lessons and managing bookings, in accordance with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. All data is handled in line with Rebecca Reid Singing Studio’s Privacy Policy.

13.2 Recording & Transcriptions
Lessons may be recorded or transcribed for the purpose of generating lesson notes and supporting student learning. Students will be informed when recording or transcription is taking place and may opt out.

13.3 Code of Conduct
Students are expected to behave respectfully and professionally during lessons.

Inappropriate, disruptive, or abusive behaviour may result in the suspension or termination of lessons or subscriptions in accordance with clause 12, without refund where applicable.

The Teacher abides by the Musicians’ Union Safeguarding Code of Conduct.

13.4 Health & Wellbeing
Students are responsible for their own physical, vocal, and general wellbeing when participating in lessons, whether delivered in person or online.

Rebecca Reid Singing Studio provides vocal coaching and guidance only and does not provide medical, therapeutic, or health advice. Students experiencing pain, vocal strain, physical injury, or other health concerns should seek advice from an appropriate qualified medical professional. Continuing lessons while experiencing pain or injury is the student’s own decision and responsibility.

Students must inform the teacher of any medical conditions, injuries, disabilities, or vocal health issues that may affect their ability to participate fully or safely in lessons. This includes (but is not limited to) ongoing vocal issues, physical injuries, neurological conditions, or mental health considerations that may impact learning or physical participation.

For in-person lessons, students acknowledge that singing lessons may involve physical activity such as breathing work, posture adjustments, gentle movement, or stretching. Participation is voluntary and undertaken at the student’s own risk. Rebecca Reid Singing Studio is not responsible for any injury, strain, illness, or loss arising from participation in lessons, except where required by law.

Students are solely responsible for their own safety, conduct, and wellbeing when travelling to and from lessons, including any incidents, accidents, injuries, loss, or damage that may occur during travel or while entering or leaving the premises.

Rebecca Reid Singing Studio does not guarantee specific vocal, performance, academic, or career outcomes. Progress and results depend on a range of factors including individual practice, health, consistency, and circumstances beyond the teacher’s control.

13.5 Copyright (photocopying music)

Students agree not to make unlawful copies of sheet music or other copyrighted materials.

13.6 Unforeseen Circumstances

Neither the student nor the teacher shall be liable for failure to fulfil obligations where such failure is due to events beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to accident, illness, pandemic, natural disaster, technical infrastructure failure, or other unforeseen circumstances.

This clause does not override the cancellation, rescheduling, or refund terms set out elsewhere in these Terms, including where lessons are booked for a specific date and time.

13.7 Liability
The Teacher is not liable for indirect or consequential losses. The Teacher is not responsible for inability to deliver lessons due to circumstances beyond reasonable control.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability where it cannot be excluded under UK law.

13.8 Complaints

If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of the service, please contact us at info@rebeccareidsingingstudio.com. We aim to respond within a reasonable timeframe and will make reasonable efforts to resolve any issues promptly and fairly.

13.9 Consumer Rights

Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit or exclude your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law.

13.10 Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between the student and the Teacher and supersede any prior discussions, communications, or agreements relating to the services.

13.11 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Northern Ireland. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Northern Ireland.

14. Changes to Terms

14.1 Updating these Terms

Rebecca Reid Singing Studio reserves the right to update these Terms. Students will be given at least 4 weeks’ notice of any significant changes via email. Where changes are required sooner due to legal, regulatory, or operational reasons, a shorter notice period may apply.

14.2 Pricing and Service Changes

Rates may be reviewed periodically, typically on an annual basis. Rebecca Reid Singing Studio reserves the right to update lesson rates, subscription pricing, and service structure from time to time. Students will be given at least 4 weeks’ notice of any such changes via email prior to the next billing cycle.

Where a student does not agree to the changes, they may cancel their subscription before the next billing date in accordance with clause 7. Continued use of the services after the effective date of the changes constitutes acceptance of the updated pricing or structure.
