Frequently Asked Questions
Rebecca Reid Singing Studio
I work with singers aged 16 and over.
My studio is designed specifically for adult learners who are ready to engage with clear, structured technique and take ownership of their vocal development.
Adult singers learn differently from children. My approach is built around:
Understanding how your voice works
Developing healthy, sustainable technique
Building independence and confidence
If you’re under 16, I would recommend working with a teacher who specialises in younger voices.
Yes. Many of my students begin as complete beginners. You don’t need prior training, performance experience, or the ability to read music.
We start by building coordination step by step — understanding how your voice works, developing healthy vocal habits, and establishing technique you can rely on.
Progress comes from small, steady changes. You won’t be expected to “perform” before you’re ready. You’ll be given clear tools and structured guidance from the very first lesson.
I specialise in healthy, evidence-informed vocal technique and regularly work with:
Classical singers and art song repertoire
Musical theatre
Folk and contemporary styles
Adults who simply sing for enjoyment
Although my own performance background is classical, my teaching is genre-flexible. I am currently completing Estill Voice Training Levels 1 and 2, which provide a clear framework for understanding how the voice functions across styles. This allows me to support singers in a wide range of genres while maintaining healthy, sustainable technique.
If your goal involves highly specialised contemporary techniques (for example extreme rock or metal effects), I may recommend a specialist teacher for that specific area. However, I can absolutely help you build strong, healthy foundations that support any style.
If you're unsure, you're very welcome to get in touch and describe what you're hoping to work on.
The best way to find out is to book an initial flexible lesson. You can view availability and book online here.
This gives us the opportunity to:
Explore your voice
Clarify your goals
Identify what’s currently working (and what isn’t)
Outline clear next steps
You’ll leave knowing what we worked on, why it matters, and what to focus on next.
There’s no pressure to commit long-term. The first session is about clarity — not obligation.
Lessons are booked online via my website.
You can view availability, choose a suitable time, and book securely in just a few steps. Pricing options are listed clearly before you confirm your booking.
Availability is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
I don’t offer free trial lessons.
Each session is a full, structured 60-minute lesson tailored to your voice and goals. From the first session, you’ll receive clear technical guidance, targeted exercises, and practical next steps — not a shortened introductory taster.
If you’d like to try a lesson without committing long-term, I recommend booking a flexible lesson. This allows you to experience the teaching approach properly and decide whether it’s the right fit for you.
