Opera Singer, Singing Teacher & Vocal Health Specialist
Rebecca Reid is an opera singer, singing teacher, and vocal health specialist with 15+ years of experience as a performer and educator. She trained extensively in opera under Michelle Wegwart (Opéra Bastille, Bolshoi Theatre, Zurich Opera, Salzburg Festival), specialising in classical and musical theatre vocal technique while also working with Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM) singers.
As a passionate performer, Rebecca’s operatic journey includes work with York Opera, where she understudied the role of Josephine in H.M.S. Pinafore, and performances in The Magic Flute and Tales of Kings & Queens. Beyond the operatic stage, she has appeared as a soloist across Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire, including at York Unitarian Chapel and civic events such as the Mayor of Newark Ceremony. As the founder of Rebecca Reid Singing Studio, she works with aspiring professionals, amateur singers, and adult learners, helping them develop healthy, sustainable vocal technique for confident, expressive performances. Her approach emphasises technical mastery, vocal longevity, and artistic expression, ensuring singers build the skills needed for long-term success.
Alongside her teaching, Rebecca is a Vocal Health First Aider and is completing certification as a Vocal Habilitation Professional, allowing her to support singers in optimising vocal health and preventing injury. Her teaching philosophy is rooted in evidence-based vocal pedagogy, integrating technical training, voice science, and performance coaching to help singers refine their artistry and develop confidence in their vocal abilities.
Teaching Approach
Rebecca provides individualised instruction tailored to each singer’s unique needs, focusing on:
✔ Technical Development – Posture, alignment & balance, breath support & control, accurate pitching & intonation, seamless registration, balanced resonance, agility, and dynamic control.
✔ Repertoire Expansion – Classical, Musical Theatre, and CCM styles.
✔ Performance Skills – Interpretation, stage presence, and audition preparation.
✔ Vocal Health – Optimising vocal function and preventing strain or injury.
Rebecca primarily works with aspiring professionals, amateur singers, and adult learners who are passionate about developing their vocal technique. She also supports those preparing for community performances and auditions. Some of her students have successfully auditioned for universities, competitions, and professional productions, while others focus on building confidence and enjoying singing as a personal pursuit.
