  • Attendance & Punctuality Policy
Late Arrivals: Please ensure you arrive on time for your scheduled lesson. If you arrive late, the lesson will still finish at the scheduled time to respect the next student’s booking, and the full lesson fee will still apply. Unfortunately, we cannot extend the lesson to make up for any time missed due to lateness. Importance of Regular Attendance: Regular attendance is key in vocal training. Consistent lessons help us monitor your development and provide essential feedback, which is crucial for building technique and confidence. Irregular attendance may hinder your progress and growth as a singer.
  • Studio Rules & Etiquette
Lesson Environment: To maintain a focused and productive lesson, we ask that all students come to lessons fully prepared, with any materials or music needed for the session. Phone-Free Zone: All students are required to keep their mobile phones on silent mode and stored away during the lesson. This ensures that the focus remains on the music and learning. Exceptions for Emergencies: If a student is expecting an urgent call (e.g., from a family member), they must inform the teacher before the lesson begins. In such cases, the phone may be kept on vibrate mode, and the student can step outside to take the call. Use for Learning Purposes: Mobile phones may only be used during lessons with the teacher's permission, such as for recording parts of the lesson (see Media & Recording Policy) or accessing music-related content. Consequences of Non-Compliance: If a student is found using their phone without permission during the lesson, they will receive a warning. Repeated offences may result in the student being asked to leave the lesson. Parent Involvement: Observation Welcome: Parents are welcome to attend their child’s lessons for students under the age of 16 to observe their progress and support their musical development. Quiet Observation: While observing, parents must remain quiet and avoid interruptions during the lesson. This allows the student to fully focus and ensures that the lesson runs smoothly. Respecting the Learning Environment: If a parent becomes disruptive or causes a distraction, the teacher may ask them to leave the lesson room to maintain a positive and productive learning environment for the student. Communication with the Teacher: If parents have questions or concerns, they are encouraged to discuss them with the teacher by email. Please avoid discussing these matters during the lesson to prevent interruptions to the student's focus. Practice Expectations: Regular practice is essential for progress. Students are expected to follow the teacher's instructions regarding their practice routine. Typically, this may involve practising at least 5 days a week for a minimum of 15-20 minutes per session, or as directed by the teacher. Consistent effort between lessons ensures steady improvement and helps students reach their goals more effectively. Respectful Conduct: We are committed to maintaining a positive, respectful, and supportive environment for all students and teachers. Verbal abuse, aggressive behaviour, or disrespect toward the teacher or other students will not be tolerated. If any such behaviour occurs, you will be asked to leave the lesson immediately, and further action may be taken to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone in the studio.
  • Studio Holidays & Teacher Cancellations
Holiday/Studio Closures: The studio will be closed during specific holidays and breaks throughout the year. We will notify students at least 2 weeks in advance of any scheduled closures via email or other communication methods, such as our website or social media. These closures may include major holidays (e.g., Christmas, New Year’s, Easter), summer breaks, or any other planned time off. During these times, lessons will not take place, and any affected lessons will either be rescheduled, credited to your account, or a refund will be issued upon request. Teacher Absences: If the teacher needs to cancel a lesson due to illness, emergencies, or other unforeseen circumstances, students will be notified as soon as possible. In such cases, the lesson will either be rescheduled at a mutually convenient time, credited to your account, or a refund will be issued, if preferred. We aim to minimise disruptions and maintain a consistent schedule for all students.
  • Illness Policy
At Rebecca Reid Singing Studio, we prioritise the health and wellbeing of all our students and teachers. If you are feeling unwell or exhibiting any symptoms of illness, we kindly ask that you reschedule or cancel your lesson. This is especially important to protect not only your own voice but also the health of others in the studio. Request to Reschedule: If you are experiencing any symptoms of illness, please contact us as soon as possible to discuss rescheduling your lesson. We encourage you to give us at least 24 hours' notice whenever possible, in compliance with our Cancellation, Rescheduling, and No-Show Policies. Health Considerations: Students are encouraged to take care of their health. Singing while sick can increase the risk of vocal injury and hinder your recovery. It’s better to take the time needed to heal fully before returning to lessons. We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a healthy learning environment for everyone at the studio.
  • Online Singing Lessons Policy
At Rebecca Reid Singing Studio, we offer online singing lessons in English to provide flexibility and convenience for our students. To ensure a smooth and productive online learning experience, please review the following: Technology Requirements: To participate in online singing lessons, students must meet the following technology requirements: Platform: Lessons will be conducted via Zoom. Students should have the Zoom application installed on their devices. Microphone: A good-quality microphone is essential for clear audio. USB microphones or dedicated headsets are recommended. Camera: A functioning webcam (built-in or external) is required for visual interaction during lessons. Internet Connection: A stable internet connection with a minimum speed of 5 Mbps for both upload and download is necessary to ensure uninterrupted lessons. Device: Students can use a computer, tablet, or smartphone that meets the above requirements. Technical Difficulties: In the event of technical difficulties during a lesson, students are encouraged to troubleshoot their devices first. Common solutions include checking internet connectivity, restarting the Zoom application, and ensuring audio/video settings are correctly configured. If the connection remains poor or technical issues persist for more than 5 minutes, the lesson will be paused, and the teacher will reach out via email or text to discuss rescheduling options. Rescheduling Due to Technical Issues: If a lesson cannot continue due to significant technical difficulties on either the student's or teacher's side, it may be rescheduled at no additional charge, in line with our Cancellation Policy, Rescheduling, and No-Show Policies. Punctuality: Students are expected to log in to the Zoom meeting 5 minutes before the scheduled lesson start time. This allows for any last-minute adjustments and ensures that lessons begin promptly. Please note that a waiting room feature will be enabled, so students may have to wait briefly until the teacher is ready to start the lesson. Environment: Students should find a quiet and well-lit space for their lessons to minimise distractions and enhance the learning experience. Please inform any household members that a lesson is in session to avoid interruptions. Recording Lessons: In accordance with our Media and Recording Policy, students may request permission to record lessons for personal reference. If permission is granted, recordings should be used solely for the student’s practice and improvement.
  • Termination of Lessons Policy
Ending Lessons Students and teachers have the right to terminate lessons at any time without requiring advance notice. Student-Initiated Termination: If a student decides to discontinue lessons, they simply need to notify the teacher via email at booking@rebeccareidsingingstudio.com. No notice period is required. Teacher-Initiated Termination: If a teacher needs to discontinue lessons, they will communicate this to the student directly. No notice period is required. Refund Policy If a student has flexible lessons booked, these will be managed according to our Cancellation, Rescheduling, and No-Show Policies and Refund Policy. Weekly and monthly plan will be addressed in accordance with our Weekly and Monthly Plan Policy.
  • Student Commitment & Practice Policy
Importance of Commitment: At Rebecca Reid Singing Studio, we believe that dedication and consistent practice are essential for vocal development. Students are expected to commit to their lessons and practice regularly to achieve their goals. Progress Tracking and Feedback: We will regularly assess each student’s progress and provide constructive feedback during lessons. This tracking helps identify strengths and areas for improvement, ensuring that each student is on the right path toward their musical goals. Performance Opportunities: Students may have opportunities to participate in performances or recitals throughout the year. These events are designed to showcase their progress and boost confidence in their abilities. Participation in these events will be communicated in advance, and students are encouraged to take part. Commitment to Practise: If a student consistently fails to practise or show commitment to their vocal training, they may be asked to leave the studio. This decision will be made in the best interest of both the student and the studio, as we aim to foster an environment of growth and dedication. Additionally, this opens up a spot for other students who are eager to learn and develop their vocal skills.
  • Media & Recordings Policy
Recording Lessons: Permission Required: Students may request permission to record their lessons for personal reference. Requests should be made to the teacher before the lesson begins. Usage of Recordings: If granted permission, recordings should be used solely for the student's practice and improvement. They should not be shared publicly without prior consent from Rebecca Reid Singing Studio. Confidentiality: Recorded lessons may contain sensitive information about teaching methods or other students. We ask that all students respect this confidentiality and refrain from sharing recordings with anyone outside of their personal use. Social Media Usage: Posting Videos or Images: We encourage students to share their progress on social media. However, any videos or images that feature other students or teachers must be shared only with their consent. Studio Promotions: From time to time, Rebecca Reid Singing Studio may post videos or images of students, performances, or recitals on our official social media platforms, such as Instagram and Facebook. Students or parents will be notified in advance, and if any student wishes not to be featured, they should communicate this to the teacher. Respectful Sharing: We ask that all students and parents maintain a respectful approach when sharing content related to the studio. This includes refraining from posting negative comments or content that could harm the studio's reputation. Communication and Consent: Feedback and Concerns: If you have any concerns or questions regarding our Media & Recordings Policy, please do not hesitate to reach out via email to info@rebeccareidsingingstudio.com. We value open communication and are here to address any issues that may arise.
  • Lesson Transcription Policy
To support accurate note-taking and improve lesson planning, we may use a secure AI-based transcription tool (such as Otter.ai) to transcribe lessons. This is solely for our personal reference and teaching development. Transcriptions are used to track progress, recall specific feedback, and maintain continuity between lessons. Key Points: Only the teacher has access to the transcripts. No transcriptions will be shared with others unless explicitly agreed upon in writing. Transcriptions are stored securely and may be deleted periodically. These are not used for marketing or publication purposes. If any student (or their parent/guardian) prefers not to be recorded/transcribed, we will fully respect that choice — just let us know. By continuing lessons, you acknowledge and consent to this practice, unless you opt out.
